ANL Art Prize

About the Art Prize

Since 2002 the Mission to Seafarers Victoria maritime art prize has exhibited the work of over 700 artists and fast become recognised as Australia’s leading maritime art award. Prize money awarded to date has exceeded $129,000 and the organisation has raised approximately $180,000 toward the provision of seafarers’ welfare services in Victoria.

Now known as the ANL Maritime Art Prize & Exhibition, the award promotes excellence in maritime and seafaring subjects in art and assists in raising the profile of the 1.5 million merchant seafarers responsible for transporting more than 90 per cent of world trade.

Global efforts to improve conditions for seafarers are constant, as has been the provision of welfare services by the MTSV since 1857 in the Port of Melbourne. The ANL Art Prize is an important event made possible with thanks to naming rights sponsor ANL, corporate sponsors, the contributing artists and the individuals who give their time and expertise to curate, judge and select the works.

All works exhibited are for sale and pay a 33% commission toward supporting seafarers’ welfare.

Entries close Monday 2nd September 2013, 2012.

The exhibition is open for public viewing from 3rd - 27th October, 2013 at the historic seafarers' centre at 717 Flinders Street, Docklands from 12 noon – 7pm Tuesday – Sunday.
